Presenting Purple Heart Flag to State IDVA DirectorOn Purple Heart Day the Chapter presented a Purple Heart flag to the State in the State House Rotunda. The Chapter helped create the Proclamation naming Illinois as a Purple State in January 2016. Those pictured from (L-R):

Remembering Those On August 7, 2016, the Purple Heart Memorial was dedicated to all Illinois veterans who were wounded or killed in action at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Springfield, IL. The memorial bears the Purple Heart Medal and the words, "We few, we happy few, we band of brothers; For he today that sheds his blood with me shall be my brother" from Shakespeare's "Henry V". The Hayes-Krell Chapter covered the entire cost through donations.
