Presenting Purple Heart Flag to U of I On June 25th the Hayes/Krell Chapter dedicated the University of Illinois as the first university in the state to become a Purple Heart school. The ceremony took place on campus at the Chez Veterans Center. Chancellor Jones referred to this ceremony as marking a historic day for U of I, honoring the 1600 alumni who have been awarded a Purple Heart.
